What a Weird Day Michael Christmas' chronicle of moving from Boston to LA to persue his music career was one of the best hip hop albums of last year though you probably didn't even hear about it. As a follow up Christmas has quickly put out this EP Baggy Eyes and it just further proves that Michael Christmas is one of the best in the game right now. He effortless flows from style to style and makes each one feel more comfortable than the last. Christmas is just as comfortable leaning in to an old school style as he is to more trap heavy beats. "Drums Might Wake Ya Mama Up" has that really great balance of modern and old that is going to have something for everyone. Christmas' delivery is so unique, where most rappers are trying to use an accent to their rhyming advantage He instead uses his words and speaks clearly throughout. This makes his lyrics all the more distinct. "Get Up" is most likely the single here and for good reason, it is simply amazing. The beat and rapper work perfectly together with Michael bringing up both his nerdiness and party lifestyle forming a picture of a complete human. The chorus being "Get up off my dick" could potentially make this track a no for some people but it is used more for comedic effect than anything and you cannot help but find yourself bouncing to the song eventually.

As a whole the features are many on the record but are quite inconsequential. Baggy Eyes is cleary Michael Christmas' and He may let you come in and play around but when it comes to the throne He is going to take it. The balls that Christmas has to be so direct with his lyrics and not let a vibe control his delivery is really quite incredible. "Paranoid", "Cell Phone" and "Get Up" were all previously released on SoundCloud but the other five tracks are all new. One of the best runs that Michael Christmas goes on is on "Paranoid" when he says "In the shower wearing these Aviators/playing all young dro hits cause I'm not focused/But that be the time when I write my best/then I call my best friend cause I'm depressed/And he depressed but we the best like DJ Khaled back in '06/Before the major key/I lazer lee/watch on MTV". And that is just one example of an EP that is full of lyrics like that. Michael refuses to sit on a beat and not say something with it, and that is why he is just so much better than everyone else. If He keeps producing music at this clip we are going to have a lot from Michael by the time He is done. For now just lay back and let the amazing Baggy Eyes EP just wash over you.
