Looking at the way ILLFIGHTYOU write the names of their songs, names and album titles, all caps no spaces, you would think that what are about to listen to would be aggressive unabashed hip hop. You would not be 100% wrong but this CASHINTHEBATHROOM EP shows not only great lyricist skill but also funny and inattentive approach to the hip hop game. ILLFIGHTYOU is a five track collection of pared down California hip hop, the beats are consistent and smooth and is combined with quick witted rapping. The members of the group are unapologetic for their brash boasting style but here it never comes across as overdone. The lyrics are the forefront of this release with the beats never taking center stage of the rappers. None of these tracks are meant to be club bangers which is a nice change of pace for what you hear these days in popular hip hop.

"ORACLE" is the most polished track on the album. It has an easy quality that makes it very approachable and puts the groups style right in the forefront. "FLASH" however has the oddest but most innovative beat, it is on the verge of annoying with it's repetitive syth hits but it never crosses over that line. The lyrics on the track are absolutely stellar and show ILLFIGHTYOU really letting loose and giving you everything they have. What makes CASHINTHEBATHROOM so exciting is it doesn't rely in vibe or have any sense of trap. It is a breath of fresh air in the hip hop world of today that seems to put out the same variation on the same song time after time. ILLFIGHTYOU have done something really solid here so sit back relax and enjoy the CASHINTHEBATHROOM EP.
