Justin Bieber - Purpose

Justin Bieber
Purpose
2015

This is the triumphant return of the Biebs. Purpose is meant to take away all the drama and issues that He has had in the past and replace it with some really great music. If you take his issues (He is fucking 21 by the way, who wasn't a fuck up?) and just listen to his music you'll find that it is actually pretty great. This record he brought in some of the best producers out there right now including Poo Bear, Skrillex, Diplo and mdL to make a pop album that was right on the vanguard of what is happening now. For the most part they are quite successful. The first single "What Do You Mean?" is an out and out hit while his colaboration with Jack Ü "Where Are Ü Now?" has been a mainstay for months now. This record while a decent mix between ballads and club bangers is really more about the uptempo stuff than anything else. "Children" follows the same pattern as the other EDM tracks and is really the state of pop music today. Those times when Bieber slows it down it usually means just him and a piano come across as slightly overblown and emotional, but will satisfy that need for ballads.

"Purpose" may take some people by surprise as it is pretty much a religious song, and it's authenticity is a bit laughable. At the end of the track we get Bieber discussing his future and past missteps which at this point has become so tiresome including it on the record is just really lame. So what is the point of this record than? Does it meet the standard of a solid pop record? The answer is yes, it is great pop record it is going to get people dancing and get people talking. When these tracks come on people will be throwing their hands up and singing along so in that respect it is doing it's job. This is not just an album for pre-teens nor is He an artists for them the Biebs is branching out and going after a more discerning market. So give ol' Bieber a shot and check out Purpose
