Where a lot of hip hop can take a broad approach to making music on his sophomore major release Logic continues to focus on the specifics. It's 100 years in the future and a couple of astronauts (Thomas and Kai) are searching for planet paradise after the destruction of Earth with the help of their ships A.I. Thalia. That is the concept Logic takes for this album, getting away from his highly personal first record this one plays more like a movie script something Logic clearly intended. While the story is told through the breaks in the music the actual songs tend to follow a more mainstream theme structure. Don't expect every second of the album to serve the narrative, but when Logic verses like: "Feel like I'm in a 5th element/I'm in my element lost in paradise/It's me, you and Leeloo Korben Dallas/In Fhloston paradise" referencing another SciFi epic "The Fifth Element" you can tell that the concept of the record is always in his mind. Logic's style is also on point with this album, the beats are classic and do nothing more than serve as backbones for his lyrics. However because there is a narrative and the lyrics are so complex you won't find to many people going back over and over again to these songs.

For those people who continue to think Drake is the beast rapper who has ever lived "I Am The Greatest" is almost a carbon copy of something you would hear on a Drake album. IT also feels nothing like what Logic does throughout the rest of the album. It just doesn't fit and the album suffers for it being there. The next track "Lord Willin'" Logic is right back to what He does on the rest of the record and He pulls your right back into the flow. Logic actually goes back to the Drake well in "City of Stars" lambasting critics who rail against Drake for talking about nothing but money and bitches but praising 2Pac for doing the same. When Logic gets worked up his pace picks up as well and his lyrics become quite interesting. While He does rap with an affected tone it is never as off putting or as some one like Mac Miller, Logic just comes across as very organic. As a concept album The Incredible True Story is quite successful in it's crafting of a fun story built around interesting music. However you would be hard pressed to find someone who is going to put this album on again and again.

  1. Read the lyrics of city of stars
In no way does he "rail against Drake for talking about nothing but money and bitches but praise 2pac for doing the same." You substantially misinterpreted the lyrics and you should probably go back and listen again

    1. Hi Griff don't know if was was possibly a bit unclear but I was saying Logic is the one railing against the critics, not railing against Drake himself.
