It is really hard to separate Big Wild from his biggest hit "Aftergold". The song made his career and propelled him onto festival stages across the world. He has a take on EDM that is new and novel pushing the boundaries and trying new things. This new EP Invincible however is Big Wild's first real release since signing with Odesza's record label Foreign Family Collective. The album's opener "When I Get There" is all chopped vocals coupled with soaring bridges and deep bass heavy verses. The bass on this track seems to just suck every ounce of air out of the room than push it right back in. This breathy quality to the low end allows Big Wild to really play around with electronic sounds to pepper in. "Empty Room" to it's credit really celebrates the vocals provided by Yuna but also is not afraid to chop them up or add a distinct effect. The horns on this track, my god the horns are simply sublime as the blast away. Big Wild's version of EDM is so bright yet also so big it is really something to hear. He has the skill of a seasoned veteran when it comes to producing music, but this almost childlike wonder to his sound. It feels like he is always discovering these songs for the first time and his surprise becomes your surprise.

The title track "Invincible" has this almost Jazz vocal provided by iDA HAWK, but then it is all horns and bass when the drops come in. It has an almost marching band vibe to it, something that big brothers Odesza have employed quite a bit. Invincible is almost like a version of pop EDM, but really really good pop as opposed to some of the bullshit that you hear getting played over and over again. The guitar also plays a pretty big role on this record being featured on more than a few tracks. This music really feels like a breath of life into a genre that as of late has been really quite stale. It's different and engaging on a level that is much more than just a simple dance track, Big Wild pours emotion into his tunes, He just happens to be a pretty happy guy. The smile on his face almost seeps through to your ears track after track. A really good start for this young producer, but get ready for much much more. Big Wild has not even begun to blow up yet.
