From the jump I dislike Machine Gun Kelly. His style is so derivative of other aggressive rappers, yet He is constantly begging for validation. His newest single "RAP DEVIL" a diss track against Eminem is fine in theory, but comes across as some of the most cringe shit of 2018. First the fact that Eminem came out with an album dissing his "haters" from his previous album, the album was shit by the way. Well, I guess Kelly took this personally and released "RAP DEVIL" as a response with the line "somebody grab him some clippers/ His beard is weird". He brings up how Eminem is out of touch, has thin skin yet Kelly always keeps the door open to "talk about it". This of course lead to another response from Eminem, and the cycle goes on and on. Both rappers do this thing where they kind of praise each other but they also talk shit, it's so fucking lame. Maybe if the songs clapped or were something we could all get behind we would care, but as a whole hip hop culture doesn't care if Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly are beefing. It's also absurd how Kelly brings up the one other rapper who He feels a kinship with Yealwolf, also terrible. Machine Gun Kelly forever feels like that dirty kid from school you never talked to, yet instead of getting into death metal this guy got into hip hop. He does a good job of emulating what's popular, but it doesn't feel like there is any substance behind his words, just a bunch of hollow platitudes.

The darkness that surrounds this EP, is the same stlye that has been around Kelly for years now. He never evolves, He never becomes anything else than a rapper desperate to have a seat at the table. He is so sure of his skill that He finds it incredible that He isn't the most recognized rapper in the world. It is the only thing He talks about. Even the songs that somewhat seem like they are shifting his topics always come back to that fact. Eminem suffers from the same shit, it's ok to mention it once or twice, but don't make it the only thing that you are about. How many times can you say you don't give a fuck what people think about you until it starts sounding like you fucking do. The thing is, being able to rap alone isn't enough anymore. Sure MGK can flow, and puts together some decent bars, but his music has no soul. Someone can be an amazing singer, but if they just sing other peoples' songs and don't add some swag their own who is going to care? It's the same case for rappers in 2018. I mean good on ya Kelly do your thing but after listening to this record you just have to wonder, who cares?
