Sun Glitters - Diving Into Reality

Indietronica is a mouthful of a name for a genre that really is quite simple: Electronic music with an ethereal bend. This is the kind of music you want at your beach party, if your beach party happened to be on Venus. Diving Into Reality is the latest EP from Sun Glitters the electronic project of Victor Ferriera. The music is glitchy and soaked in a summer vibe that brings to mind memories of sunsets, beaches and great trips. The album is also much more straightforward than you find with artists in the same vein, Sun Glitters tries to get to the point much faster and doesn't meander around creating landscapes to explore. This can be both a good and a bad thing because it seems like the idea is to cut the fat, but often with electronica the magic is in the tiny details. The tracks without words are far and away the best and are a great head back eyes closed type of listen. Sun Glitters never stays on a sound for to long, He is very quick to  get the tone he wants than move on to the next thing which really gives the album a nice pace.

The beauty that is created with the wordless tracks are interrupted rather abruptly by "No Birds or Yoga Allowed" with spoken word/rap vocals by Doseone. This track really is the weakest on the record with Doseone seemingly talking on and on about really nothing and never really making any solid points. At that point in the record you are starving for some kind of vocal, but this is not the one you wanted. "Holy Mistakes" quite possibly has the best pop appeal yet still maintains that indie cred that the entire album brings. "In a Minute or So..." is the glitchiest of the bunch and also features a piano line that would fit in any Big House show. Sun Glitters talent and ear and undeniable after listening to this record and hearing this complete with transitions in a live setting would really be quite the show. Sun Glitters has one other album under his belt as well as a slew of EPs so don't sleep on this one, you may be seeing him on your next festival lineup very soon.
