It's pretty easy to hate Lil Pump. He represents a version of hip hop that is not for everyone and his loud over the top style makes him an easy target. His songs barely say anything, and by that I mean He says the same shit over and over again. He has about three things He talks about: His fame, Partying and what haters need to do, that is about it. It can be maddening in large doses, but if you take a step back and take in Lil Pump you start to get a different picture. First and foremost, he is really funny. Every song has a line or an intonation that makes it so light and breezy. Usually with trap you get very serious men talking about very serious things. Sure they can craft a party banger here and there, but it all has to come back to the trap. Not with Lil Pump. He is almost post trap where the ideas of what makes someone a good rapper have changed. The album's title track which is basically a celebration of dropping out of school ends with Pump asking kids to stay in school with a smile on his face. He's not a role model and He doesn't want anyone to think He is, but He also doesn't shy away from attention. "ION" has a somewhat troubling antisemitic line from Smokepurpp which sort of zaps you right out of the song if you are listening close. Quavo has one of the greatest lines on the record when He says that He makes more money than your dad on "Too Much". It seems like the features on this record feed off of Pump's energy and try to match his levels giving us some really funny shit.

You have to take what He says with a grain of salt and it makes everything so much better. It becomes about just having fun and creating a vibe rather than truly trying to make some kind of social commentary. The feature list on this record is fucking bananas; Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, Offset and 2 Chainz are just a few of the stars that grace this tracklist. It's almost like at times Lil Pump is taking up the Slim Shady mantle, but for 2019. "Be Like Me" has some truly hilarious lines like: "And everybody wanna be like Ye (Ye) Everybody wanna go and smash Kim K (Ooh, yeah) You can talk shit about me everyday (Day) But I'm still rich at the end of the day". In the same song He says He can't read, but hell He's still rich right? His opinions are not politically correct, nor are they influenced by the intellectuals of our day. This is silly music by a silly guy for silly people. If you can't allow yourself to step outside of your comfort zone and just let this music be what it is then it's likely not for you. For everyone else, let's crank this shit to 11 and hype into infinity.
