Honeyhoney are one of those bands that give you chills music. Their harmonies, folk sound and cutting lyrics dig right into your soul and bury themselves there. Their newest album 3 is no different and thank god it isn't. Their first record Billy Jack was a country-rock-americana tour de force, Honeyhoney left nothing out on that record and they have done the same on 3. The new album does feel a bit grittier, grounded in a live sound which makes sense since Honeyhoney have been touring almost non-stop since their debut record was released. They have honed their craft on the road and brought that same vibe to this new record. Where as their sound used to be the cleanest part of their first release on this album there is room to experiment, to let the music breathe and grow, however the lyrics have become much tighter much more catchy. Suzanne Santo's lead vocals are much stronger and out front on 3 but the harmonies with Ben Jaffe are still tantamount to all the tracks.

"You and I" the first single off the album is a country-rock ballad that is classic Honeyhoney, upbeat tempo with scathing lyrics it cuts right to the core.is the type of album where you feel they are singing directly to you, explaining something that you never know you needed to know. Few bands accomplish this, or even want it, but Honeyhoney have turned it into an art form and it's something to be cherished. A move back to Los Angeles from Nashville really have done wonders for Honeyhoney. Their music just seems to work better against the backdrop of success and broken dreams that is LA, it grounds the sound and brings it a depth that in a sea of singer songwriters that is Nashville just doesn't work. 3 is a bit more down tempo than Billy Jack but it never drags or feels to much like a ballad. This is a great record, get your ass to some Honeyhoney as soon as possible.
