Female indie singers seem to be popping up everywhere these days and really doing great things. Verete, Banks, Grace Mitchell and Cannons all spring to mind when thinking about this varied genre. Well now Transviolet are throwing their hat into the ring with their self titled EP. Their brand of pop is soaring at times minimalist at others almost jumping between the two as they see fit. Their youth also comes into play with songs like "Girls Your Age" and "New Bohemia" which could potentially stick them in a kid pop vein, but their music is so polished and so adult that they never slip into that scene. The album is also produced expertly. It is never to much or to little, instead just the right amount of shaping really brings the best out of Transviolet and allows them to explore the full range of musical influences that they are working with.
On "Night Vision" the electronic music comes in and adds an air of heaviness to the album. This track brings things to a grand scale that could easily fill a venue while still having those little quiet moments that allow you to really connect. Though it is only four tracks this EP is a real introduction to what this group can do. You will find yourself going back to these tracks time after time because they are just so smooth and just the right amount of dirty. Do yourself a favor and get into this record quick before you can't get a ticket to one of their concerts.
