This is probably is an album that never should have been made. With Selena always in the limelight for one particular reason or another it makes financial sense to put something out but this record is simply not good. The ballads are so predictable and dated, the dance tracks are mediocre at best and the rest is just more blah. There is almost zero heart in this entire record, it all feels like it could have been written for anyone by anyone at any time. There is no point where an connection to something real is made instead on songs like "Me & My Girls" are such blatant pandering that it is almost laughable. There is nothing in that track that is not a clear attempt to get a group of girls to sing "this is our song!" and the reality is they really won't because it is not even a good song. The ballads on Revival lack any truth to them so instead they just sound generic with generic lyrics that at times are just corny.

"Sober" and "Good for You" are the only two decent tracks on the album and I use decent very loosely. There needed to be some kind of edge to this record or something to set it apart in a way but that never comes. Instead you are treated track after track of absolute garbage. The offense would not be so egregious if it also was not trying to pander so hard, this record is begging you to like it and there is no way you will. Even in the moments when Selena tries to be sexy it just comes across as odd and misplaced. Revival seriously is not worth your time, avoid it like the plague.
