Alesso - Forever

Alesso
Forever
2015

It's hard to believe that Forever is the first full length album from Alesso. He has been on the EDM scene for some time but at only 23 Alesso is positioning himself to be one of the greats. He has already had smash hits like his collaboration with Tove Lo "Heroes (We Could Be)" and "Cool" featuring Roy English, but this album just adds more. What Alesso does extremely well is use his synths and bass drops more like analogue instruments rather than pure drum and bass, creating a more organic sound than other DJs. His use of the piano is especially well done on this record and pretty much throughout. For those looking for a straight EDM experience this album probably is not for you as it tends to lean most towards the Pop side of things, though he does have a few tracks that are all out House fillers like "Profondo" and "PAYDAY".

This is one record where it is really hard to find fault, because it sets out to do something and completely accomplishes that goal. "Destinations", personally my favorite track, in particular shows Alesso's balancing act between pop and EDM making great use of climbs and drops but still keeping that organic feel that sets him apart. Forever is a great example of how a DJ can do an album right. It is well crafted and a great deal of work was put into setting up the lesser known tracks to soar just as much as the singles. Give Alesso a shot, you like what you hear.
