Nero - Between II Worlds

Between II Worlds
2015

With modern dance music it is often hard to repeat past success and still evolve. Nero blasted onto the scene with Welcome Reality four years ago and seemed poised to be one of the greats in the genre. On their subsequent tour however they took a risk, ditched the DJ booth and brought in a three piece band to emulate their songs as best as possible. Hence the idea for Between II Worlds was born, merging the electronic and analogue worlds into some kind of amalgamation with a connection between the two. On this record that idea becomes a bit muddled but the dance tracks work extremely well. There is a connection Nero has with the listener dropping in a just the right moment the need to either shake your ass off or lay back in the groove. Their mastery of this is quite impressive.

The album also flows beautifully. Track to track there is almost zero let down with the right amount of aggression when needed and beautiful electronic infused vocals when the time calls for them. It does not seem like the switch over to analogue music in their live set has effected their choices on the recordings anyway. "Two Minds" is a real standout with an incredible build and a great EDM style drop. It will be very interesting to see how they incorporate these new tracks into the live show. Between II Worlds is a really great new dance from Nero, check it out and get your ass on the dance floor.
