Urban Dictionary defines Twee as: Something that is sweet, almost to the point of being sickeningly so. As a derogatory descriptive, it means something that is affectedly dainty or quaint, or is way too sentimental. While I wouldn't call Diagrams new album Chromatics aggressively twee there are for sure elements of that description throughout this record. The music feels so precious, like if you move it one way or another it is bound to break. But that precious almost daintiness does make for a quite beautiful sound, the music never becomes bold instead it drifts along like on a breeze. But there is something quite daring in that in and of itself, it's not as if the music is playing it safe because it is just being what it was always meant to be, something sweet, something pretty.

My favorite track is the first "Phantom Power" it does have a bit more of an upbeat vibe than the rest of the tracks, but still works really well in the overall theme. As an album Chromatics works great, this is absolutely not a group of singles but is more of one piece to be enjoyed. I feel so many different ways about this record, on one hand I'm dying for something with more edge because you can feel the potential there but on the other hand the beauty of just floating along in a pretty vessel is in itself quite beautiful. I would say give Chromatics a shot and decide for yourself.
