another eternity is the latest release from Purity Ring and it follows many of the same patterns that made them a success in the past. Ethereal tones, crystal clear vocals and futuristic sounds abound in this album. The sound is immersive wrapping you up in a blanket of electronic goodness. If space travel needed a soundtrack one of the top candidates would be Purity Ring. Sounds great right? However therein lies my issue with this record, it is to much of the same. The danger is gone from this record, there is very little risk. Where songs like "Fineshrine" blew your mind with their inventiveness and edge another eternity has lost that sharpness. All the songs are good, they are just missing that extra piece to make them great.

My take on this sophomore release is that it is less of a stand alone piece and more of journey that Purity Ring is trying to take us on. As two pieces their records Shrines and another eternity work perfectly fine, but as a unit they are quite incredible. If I could review them both I absolutely would and that is how I plan on listening to them going forward. Unfortunately for this review I have to stick with just another eternity and as good as it may or may not be I have a feeling that there is something truly incredible coming down the road from Purity Ring.
