Vinyl Theatre - Electrogram

Vinyl Theatre
Electrogram
2014

Much like the title suggests Electrogram is Vinyl Theatre's attempt at making a record that compasses both electronic and pure rock elements. What I am reminded most of when listening to this record is early 2000's pop-punk with a slight electronic spin. It's the type of music Drive-Thru Records would be putting out if they were still around today. The synths seem like such background noise that they barely scratch the surface or have much of an effect on the actual music. This is no way is disparaging, this take on music is quite interesting because it does sound a bit like teenage popy but the use of the electronic elements elevates it just that little bit and makes it feel a bit more contemporary.

This is in no way a bad album, but it's more of a first take rather than a finished product. I think Vinyl Theatre have a lot of room to grow and develop to truly create something really special. For now be prepared for a transport back to 2003 and sneaking beers at your third Warped Tour. This just might have been your favorite show back then.
