Big Sean's latest release is Dark Sky Paradise and it does live up to the title. This record goes towards the dark side, not so much lyrically but musically. The beats have an ominous, almost to the point of being oppressive, tone. Big Sean is a really solid rapper, his lyrics are good and there are a few songs like "I Don't Fuck With You" which are clearly hits, but something is missing from the album. There is a hollowness to this record that makes a lot of tracks forgettable. I do like how he is holding to more classic rap beats and lyric structure instead of going into a genre where he really doesn't belong.

I'm really thinking there will be some incredible remixes that come out of this album. The structure is there and with a few tweaks this record could be something really special. For now however it just doesn't live up to the hype that Big Sean has created for himself.
