Ex-Cult has released a new EP called Cigarette Machine named after the second and longest track on the album. For the most part Ex-Cult with this record just makes really solid uncomplicated punk music. It's edgy, dirty where it needs to be yet in some ways well produced. The vocals are cleaner then most of punk music. Two of the tracks on the album are well over four minutes, and the others are well under three, which is quite an oddity. The longer tracks "Cigarette Machine" and "Your Mask" do tend to really drag towards their ends, just repeating over and over the same chord progression over and over again. For a brief hard punk album its still really good.

With the album you get a sense that Ex-Cult wanted something that captured the live feel of a punk show without skimping on making the album actually listenable with good production. A great effort from this group and I will be checking out some of their other releases.
