Drake has something to say, that much is quite clear. This album unlike most of his releases does not have the club bangers or out and out lyrical explosions. Instead If You're has decent beats, simple lyrical structures but a message that is hard, aggressive and pointed. The sudden release of the album makes me believe that Drake wanted to put something out that had been on his mind rather than make an album of hits that he could more likely than not sell the shit out of. The stealth drop of this album also makes it seem that Drake was not trying to impress anyone with this release but rather drop something that he wanted out there.

There is a hyphy feel to the music, think Rae Sremmurd, but Drake's ability far outshines most of the other releases of the same ilk. Is this going to be a classic? I don't think so, but I also don't think that was the intent of this record. It was more an exercising of musical demons than creating something that will last forever.
