Borderline is the newest release from Tove Styrke the former Swedish Idol winner from 2009. This album is an electropop extravaganza with upbeat rhythms and Styrke's distinct voice pushing the music forward. Her voice is quite interesting and is different from anything I have heard before. I actually saw her perform at we were told was her first ever US show a few weeks ago. At that time she had a guitarist and drummer and it seemed like the music was way to big to have just those behind her. Clearly there was a large amount of backing track going on and from listening to the album I can see why. There is so much going on in this EP electronic musically that masquerading as a three piece band seems silly.
The music itself is quite good. It is interesting while still keeping a great beat and never falling to far into the extreme pop range. For me this is a great start and real place to build for Styrke. I am looking forward to where she goes from here.
