Vince Staples - Hell Can Wait

Vince Staples
Hell Can Wait
2014

There has been an absolute power vacuum in the gangster rap scene since 2pac and Biggie died. There have been plenty of imitators but no one actually taking a hold of the medium and making it there own. Being the shadows of giants is tough, but Vince Staples is taking that challenge up and making his attack on the throne. This EP Hell Can Wait is announcing Staples' foray into the genre and instead of coming in flossing, he's kicking the fucking door down. Everything about this album oozes west coast hip hop, the beats, the rhymes, the vibe it is such a breath of fresh air to hear something like this that has been missing from the mainstream for so long.

For a Hip Hop album, even a mixtape, seven tracks is very short. However you never feel like it's to brief or to long, the album works great and it's something that has been missing from the Hip Hop world. The record is stellar and it is an announcement of things to come. Hopefully really amazing things.
